Bause's Declassified iii Points Localty Guide

Updated: Oct 20, 2022

This years iii Points is bringing in heavy hitters as always with acts such as Rosalia, Joji, Flume, The Marias, James Blake, Trick Daddy, Trina, and many more.

Among the star dust of artists coming in from out of town, this guide will outline those taking the stage from our very own backyard.

From Suz, The Floridians, Donzii, Nick Leon, Shinobi, Frogs Show Mercy, Butterfly Snapple, The Hails, and many many more, here's our guide to everything local at iii Points

iii Points has been doing its thing for nearly a decade and has solidified itself as a monumental force here in Miami. A passion project amongst dreamers that would eventually catch on like wildfire. What began inside a warehouse would eventually take over the city as names such as The Gorillaz, Tyler the Creator, Erykah Badu, The Strokes, A$AP Rocky, Willow Smith, Katrynada, Nicholas Jaar, Three Six Mafia and many many more that would take part of the festival as the years kept coming. (and they don't stop coming)

With all these eyes on a single event in our hometown, it is important for there to be local representation in the form of vendors, patrons, and most of all, ARTISTS. Founder David Sinopoli doubled down on these emotions during the panel at the Perez Art Museum of Miami (PAMM) during their "Points of View" panel. Sinopoli stated that while amazing things have happened during the festival for the city, they feel the need to do more for locals. He followed by sharing that this years local acts will be sprinkled across main stages rather than being grouped together in a separate stage altogether. In this guide, we'll be shouting out each of the local acts that made the cut for this years 2022 Line-Up in order of appearance so you can do your best to check them out and as always #SupportLocal

ASHLEY VENOM

A literal queen, I could leave it at that and it would be enough. Ashley has been a pioneer in the game since her days at LMNT where she started "The Void". It was here where many locals got their first taste at a scene that was still so fresh and ready to be taken to the limits. Ashley made sure to do that as she would eventually be part of the iii Points team alongside many more career milestones that cemented her place in Miami history. Playing around the world on the weekends, and rocking it out in Miami through the weeks, Ashley Venom is one act to show love to.

Saturday Oct. 22 2:45 - 4:00 AM | S3QUENC3

NICK LEON

True to his word, David Sinopoli made sure to integrate locals in between the headliners of main stages and proved it in the iii Points programming. Taking the stage after Joji and Flume, Nick Leon is the Chefs Kiss to local as he opens the floodgates for Rosalia. Another active member in the scene who has been notable for his work with Lyly V, Space Tapes, and other innovative ways to grow the creative community.

Saturday Oct. 22 11:05 - 11:35 PM | Mind Melt

ILIKEBLOO

I Like Bloo, You like Bloo, chances are, WE ALL LIKE BLOO. And boy are we glad that iii Points likes Bloo too. His dance moves are unparalleled and his hustle is unmatched. Don't believe us? Then you gotta try one of his pies from his "FromOutTheWindow" pop-up. Bloo don't play no games, whipping it in the kitchen, and on the stage.

Friday Oct. 21 4:00 - 4:30 PM | Main Frame

SUZ

Once you've heard Suz there's no going back. You won't be able to stop yourself from bobbing your head or tapping your feet as they take you on a trip filled with homegrown seasoning. Accompanied by a powerhouse of musicians, Suz and the band will have you ready to throw it all away on the dance floor for a chance to sing along to bangers like "Abusadora" or the newly dropped "Paid".

Saturday Oct. 22 5:00 - 5:30 PM | S3CTOR 3

SHINOBI

Shinobi is a cool guy. The music is smooth, the vibe is chill, the energy is great. From making his name known in the scene through events like PeachFuzz featuring Silent Addy, DZA, and others while also creating a flagship at venues such as 1-800 Lucky & Coyo. Overall, Shinobi is a 10/10 member of the creative community down here in the 305 with a sick Drums and Bass set to match.

Friday Oct. 21 4:45 - 5:30 PM | Main Frame

Donzii

From SXSW to the Miami Dade County Youth Fair, Donzii ALWAYS brings it. Their performance is theatric, their energy is on a constant crescendo. They have a documentary in the works and have themed their upcoming performance at iii Points "Space as Escape or Future". You'll never see the same set twice with these cats and they're always worth the watch. They'll be closing off the night before the Jacuzzi Boys put the S3CTOR 3 Stage to rest.

Saturday Oct. 22 1:15 - 1:55 AM | S3CTOR 3

The Floridians

With an aim at perfecting the psychedelic indie sound and a goal to catch the allusive Skunk Ape, these Floridians are redefining the trippy genre. Composed from a group of great guys and surrounded by a loving support system, The Floridians are taking over the hearts of the pan handle.

Saturday Oct. 22 4:00 - 4:30 PM | S3CTOR 3

WINTER WRONG

Whether it's Summer or Winter, whatever the season, the vibes are always WRIGHT. Winter Wrong (also known as Summer Wright) has been killing it with love from all corners of the city. Whether its a Super Wheels with the BOOMBOX Crew or bumping the bass with the ANNEX clan, Winter Wrong is making waves.

Friday Oct. 21 8:30 - 9:30 AM | DOOR IV

FROGS SHOW MERCY

All I can say is that these folks never show mercy on stage. A band that seemingly came out of nowhere but quickly won the hearts of the local scene. The Frogs are certainly here to stay with a caliber of artists under its belt that can blow your socks off. We highly recommend that you check them out to get a taste of the band scene here in Miami.

Saturday Oct. 22 1:15 - 1:55 AM | S3CTOR 3

ULTRATHEM

"MORE" That was what Gami said when I asked them what the scene was missing. "MORE QUEER, MORE LGBTQ, MORE REPRESENTATION, MORE". Gami doesn't only talk the talk, but walks it whenever they put on their producer boots and create experiences for diverse communities in Miami that need MORE. Already doing the most, but never letting up, Gami is straight up slaying the game beyond the music. That being said, they also kill it on the one's & two's so be sure to catch them right after Winter Wrong to get double to dose of local.

Friday Oct. 21 9:30 - 10:30 AM | DOOR IV

BUTTERFLY SNAPPLE

Self described as "Weird Miami Music" and oddly fitting for this mesh of music. Anything that Diego Melgar touches turns to gold. This has been seen across the scene with the various duets, trios, quartets, and more that Melgar has orchestrated. Most recently PACHAMANCA at Floyd inside of Space where the space was transformed into another realm alongside the likes of Justine Garcia, Sam Hart, Kat Hamann, Garett Wingfield, Marty Quinn, and Lilith. Butterfly Snapple features

Diego Melgar - Guitar

Camilo Velez - Bass

Gib Mandish - Drums

Sohn Jamal - Additional Production

Saturday Oct. 22 5:30 - 6:00 PM | S3CTOR 3

LE POODLE

A producer, songwriter, and composer that is a veteran to the iii Points stage. Self taught to the bones and with a Doctorate degree in the sciences under their belt, Le Poodle makes sure to push the envelope on the stage and behind the curtains. Representing Puerto Rico and Haiti, Le Poodle has used her diverse upbringing of Art, Music, and Science to develop into the creative we see today

Saturday Oct. 22 6:30 - 7:00 PM | S3CTOR 3

FOLK TALE SAN PEDRO

When I met these folks, they would play their sets with animal masks and take performance art to a whole new level. With a vintage sound on vocals and a modern feel with the instruments, Folk Tale San Pedro has always had a knack for standing out in the crowd. One of the OG bands from the scene that has remained consistent on their path while also remaining low-key.

Saturday Oct. 22 3:30 - 4:00 PM | S3CTOR 3

HAUTE TENSION

Genuine Peeps makin' Genuine Music. What more can you ask for? Their latest hit "Surfin' in the M.I.A gives you a deep dive into the progressive punk sound that is combined with the familiar feeling of a classic. Barring many vocals, listeners can get lost into the tune without much emphasis on the lyrics, but when the lyrics come in, boy do they hit hard!

Saturday Oct. 22 6:30 - 7:00 PM | VISION

THE HAILS

I'm a fan of all the locals on this Loyalty Guide, but that couldn't be more true for this crew right here. With the voice of an Angel at the forefront and a collective of talent on the surround sound, its a match made in heaven for your ears. Trust me when I say you will regret not catching The Hails if you have not done so already. And if you have seen them and are gonna miss it, then you know what you're missing.

GHOSTFLOWER

The first time I saw this band was at The Cabin Miami in Little Havana which was also where I lived but I'm pretty sure they didn't know that. They literally played in my room, where my bed would usually go had I not cleared the room for the show per usual. Crazy Brazy Shwazy. Their sound is different, I recommend giving them a listen. Haven't heard anything like it since

OUT OF SERVICE

Maybe you've heard of "El Palacio De Los Jugos" but I KNOW you've heard of "El Palacio Del Perreo. Brought to us by none other that the homies at Out Of Service. Since the days when 1306 was still around and before ATV and Melindas came in, Out Of Service has been providing, organizing, and supervising some of the best pachangas in town. I doubt they dont have another BANGER up their sleeve for all the Chongis. #305TillIDie

DANNY DAZE

Spinning the game on its head since the 90's, Danny Daze has become a household name beyond the city limits. Its always a pleasure to speak to him and get his thoughts on an ever-growing Miami Scene. His work behind the board is notable in South Floria and is a must see. He is a big believer in where the music scene is headed and finds big inspiration from the youth today. Keep it going Folks!!!

Friday Oct. 21 2:00 - 4:00 AM | S3QUENC3

Now I'm sure I may have missed a couple of local acts but honestly as I started this list I didn't realize just how much local representation is going to be present at iii Points. BIG KUDOS to the team over there for programming so many homies on this hot sauce lineup. Big shout out to all the artists and community members involved. If I missed any or made any mistakes, please let me know and I'll make sure to edit it asap.

Be safe at the festival, drinks lots of water, take care of one another, and always have a buddy with ya.

Love y'all
