A Miami Music Band That fuses Funk, Blues and R&B
Formed in 2013, The Remyz are a Miami band that has carved out their niche on the local scene. They are known for their inspired songwriting and explosive live performances. They have performed at many different venues and festivals across the Miami area.
Their style of blending diverse genres to create their unique sound is one that has captured the attention of fans from all over Miami and beyond. The members of the band are all from various backgrounds but share a passion for music and a love for their city.
They met in high school and have been playing together ever since. They have toured the state, gotten to play at Miami Heat half time shows and have been declared winners of Hard Rock Rising Stars Battle Of The Bands in 2017.
With influences that range from classic funk, R&B, and rock to Latin jazz and mariachi, their musical style is unique to the group. The five-piece band includes a Bahamian frontman, a Colombian bassist, an African-American drummer, a Puerto Rican guitarist, and a Dominican guitarist.
Lead Singer Avery Davis says he hopes that his band's performance at the Overtown Celebration can help spread awareness about Overtown's culture and importance. "It is important to celebrate our past and present," he said. He also hopes the show can help people feel a sense of connection to Overtown.
Guests will be treated to an evening of local art paired with a live performance by The Remyz, who won the Hard Rock Rising Battle Of The Bands Miami and were named the 2017 "Band of the Year" at SSA's Original Music Fest Central Florida.
